Overview
As an Instructional Designer at Tesla, I developed a versatile card sort activity designed to expedite the creation of engaging and effective training modules. This reusable template, built in Articulate Storyline, offers a streamlined approach to content development, ensuring consistency while minimizing development time.
Problem
Tesla's Factory Training department faced the challenge of producing a variety of training modules within tight deadlines. The need for a standardized, adaptable template became increasingly apparent to ensure consistent quality and efficiency across different projects.
Solution
To address this challenge, I designed and developed a modular card sort activity in Articulate Storyline that could be easily customized for various training topics. The template features:
Minimalist Design: A clean, uncluttered interface to maintain focus on the core activity.
Dynamic Layers: Elements that are easily customizable using Storyline's build in "question bank" to allow for easy adaptation to different content without the hassle of slide-by slide redesign.
Immediate Feedback: Instant visual and auditory cues to enhance engagement and learning.
Grayscale Color Scheme: A neutral palette that can be easily integrated into various brand identities.
By leveraging these features, I created a template that not only streamlines the development process but also provides a more interactive and engaging learning experience for learners.
Results
Despite it's simplicity, the card sort activity has proven to be a valuable asset for Tesla's training department. By reducing development time and ensuring consistency across projects, the template has significantly improved efficiency and quality. Learners have also directly reported positive feedback on the activity, citing its simple design and immediate feedback as key factors of enjoyment in their learning experience.
This project demonstrates my ability to create innovative and effective learning solutions that not only meet specific business needs but also enhance the learner experience. By prioritizing efficiency, adaptability, and engagement, I was able to develop a template that has become a valuable tool for Tesla's training initiatives.
